Saturday, August 28, 2010 was a memorable evening in the Archie M. Griffin Grand Ballroom at Ohio State’s new Ohio Union. Up on the Roof 2010 welcomed nearly 900 people coming together to raise funds for the Medical Center expansion - which includes a new James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.
Since the inception of Up on the Roof seventeen years ago, more than $5 million has been raised to support the OSUCCC-James.
Up on the Roof guests entered the Great Hall of the Ohio Union to enjoy an evening filled with celebration and great purpose. The evening program included remarks from the 2010 Honorary Chairs Ellen and Jim Tressel; Steven Gabbe, MD, Senior Vice President for Health Sciences and CEO of The Ohio State University Medical Center; Michael Caligiuri, MD, Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center and CEO of the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute and David Schuller, MD, Vice President for Medical Center Expansion and Medical Director of the ProjectONE Campaign. All spoke about the future of the cancer program and the impact the expansion will have on the OSUCCC-James.
There was great entertainment throughout the evening. A surprise performance by Tenors Undercover and two talented ballroom Dancers from the Columbus Dancer Centre captivated the crowd. Live music by Indigo Band and a fantastic display of desserts kept the party going late into the evening.
