2012 Up on the Roof - A Memorable Evening for All
The 19th annual Up on the Roof returned to the Ohio Union with Hollywood glamour on Saturday, August 25. This highly anticipated evening welcomed a sold-out crowd of more than 900 guests joining together to raise nearly $550,000 in support of the expansion of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute.
While guests enjoyed a variety of hors d’oeuvres prepared by University Catering, they found themselves mingling among guests from the Golden Age. The music of celebrated pianist David Tolley traveled beautifully between the Performance Hall and outdoor patio. The ballroom doors opened to reveal more glitz and glam with tables elegantly decorated in black, white, silver and red. The sparkling setting provided an exciting atmosphere, in which guests dined on delightful fare, also by University Catering.
Steven Gabbe, MD, Michael Caligiuri, MD, and David Schuller, MD, offered motivating words on the future of medicine and the impact the new James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute will have on patients and their families. The Chicago-based band, Indigo, was joined by a classic Hollywood routine to get the evening under way.
As the evening rolled on, guests continued the revelry with dancing to the thrilling sounds of Indigo. Throughout the night, party-goers wined, dined and mingled with the ultimate goal of a cure for cancer in mind. As Up on the Roof came to a close, guests departed having enjoyed a fantastic night out with the knowledge that they have made an impact in the fight for a cancer-free world.
