Herbert and Maxine Block Memorial Lectureship for Distinguished Achievement in Cancer
Through their fundraising efforts and advocacy, the Block family works tirelessly to battle cancer on every front and to ultimately spare others the ordeal of losing a loved one to cancer.
In 1992, the family established an annual lectureship awarded by Ohio State's Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC-James) to recognize outstanding researchers and to showcase their scientific discoveries. Each year, the award is presented to an internationally-renowned cancer researcher who has made significant contributions to efforts to reduce cancer morbidity and mortality. This international forum attracts world-class clinicians and researchers to share cutting-edge discoveries in the advancement of cancer prevention, education and treatment. The lectureship series, funded with proceeds from the golf tournament, features a keynote address, reception and dinner.
