Workshop Objectives
• Describe the steps involved in the development of a Medication Assistance Program (MAP)
• Discuss methods/metrics to assist with justification of an MAP
• Describe the benefits of an MAP to patients and the organization
• Explain the importance of having a policy for off-label uses of medications
• Describe the process for appealing denied claims for off-label oral and intravenous therapies
• Discuss the importance of working collaboratively with the finance/patient access staff to effectively manage the precertification and predetermination process

Suggested Attendees
Institutions interested in taking advantage of this workshop should plan to send a team of
2-3 individuals from their respective institutions, consisting of: a pharmacist, social worker or case manager, and a member of the Finance Department who is familiar with the processes for handling precertifications and denials.
Attendees will receive a Toolkit containing: MAP Policy and Procedure, 340B procedures, appeal letter examples, patient communications, marketing materials, Off-Label Policy, MAP position description, individual manufacturer program specifics and more.
