The Behavioral Measurement Shared Resource (BMSR) provides expert assistance for integrating behavioral research into the broader research goals of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC).

By supporting cancer control, population science and clinical research, the BMSR assists investigators with designing and incorporating behavioral variables into proposed or ongoing research, supporting the accrual of underserved groups to clinical trials, designing and implementing an assessment conceptualization and package suited to the investigator's aims and hypotheses, and supporting behavioral data interpretation for publication.

The BMSR’s goals are to:

  • Support prevention and control researchers by: providing population-based data retrieval, providing consultation for patient accrual procedures and locations, identifying or adapting existing measures of key behavioral constructs, and offering guidance or assistance with behavioral data collection methodology and personnel
  • Provide OSUCCC investigators with research design expertise to incorporate behavioral aims within any basic or clinical cancer research projects

The BMSR supports the following services:

  • Research design
  • Population-based data retrieval
  • Recruitment and accrual, particularly with underserved and minority populations
  • Behavioral assessment
  • Data collection
