BREAST HEALTH SUMMIT

BREAST RECONSTRUCTION AWARENESS (BRA) DAY
On Oct. 17, from 12 to 1 p.m., the OSUCCC – James will host a live webinar featuring our reconstructive surgery experts and patients in observance of the nation’s first BRA Day, which started in Canada last year and has been endorsed in the United States by the American Association of Plastic Surgeons. BUCKEYES GO PINK GAME - OCTOBER 20
Buckeye Nation will “go pink” on Saturday, Oct. 20, for Ohio State’s football game against Purdue. Among adornments in the stadium will be:
- James-branded pink spirit towels distributed to fans at the gates before the game
- Pink goal posts
- Large pink ribbons chalked in and around the stadium
- Pink ribbon stickers on players’ helmets
- Pink ribbon lapel pins for ushers and coaches
- Pink accents on cheerleaders and Brutus
- Pinked-out tailgates sponsored by Kroger
- A check presentation from Kroger to the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at the OSUCCC – James
- Digital board messages throughout the game
Promotions outside the stadium will include:
- Pink-lit buildings, including the new James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, the Schottenstein Center, the Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center, the Martha Morehouse Medical Plaza, CarePoint East, University Hospital East.
- Social media and internal campaigns
- Serving as a sponsor for Ohio State’s Homecoming parade on Oct. 5
- Large pink ribbons chalked on campus and in Fan Fest on game day (Oct. 20)
- A James booth in Fan Fest on game day (Oct. 20)
- Pre-game physician interviews on 97.1 The Fan radio (Oct. 20)
You can assist with these efforts by: wearing pink to the Purdue game; “pinking out” your tailgate parties by visiting Kroger and stocking up on pink foods and decorations; and visiting The James booth at Fan Fest.

Nine shopping centers owned and/or managed by Casto have been donated for the OSUCCC – James’ breast cancer marketing campaign. If you see any of the installations, please snap a photo and post it on your Facebook page.
COLUMBUS CHEVROLET DEALERSHIPS
For every test drive taken at Columbus Chevrolet dealerships on Oct. 13 and 20, they will donate $25 to the Spielman Fund.
DONATOS PIZZA
Through October, Donatos Columbus stores will donate a portion of sales from all LARGE, FULL-PRICED pizzas to the Spielman Fund. Donatos large pizza boxes will be pink and will include information about scheduling mammograms at the OSUCCC – James. Everyone is encouraged to order Donatos large, full-priced pizzas during the campaign for family and work events.
HOPE’S BOUTIQUE: ANNIVERSARY OPEN HOUSE AND SALE
An open house to celebrate the 14th anniversary of Hope’s Boutique, a specialty shop at 1145 Olentangy River Road that caters to women with cancer, is set for Thursday, Oct. 18, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Visitors that day can enjoy: a complimentary massage and face lift/facial massage; a private fitting with company representatives offering the latest mastectomy bras and silicone breast prostheses; 35 percent off all gift items, hats, swimsuits and more; and a small token of appreciation for supporting Hope’s Boutique. KROGER
Kroger stores will hold a month-long campaign in which, for a $1 donation to the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at the OSUCCC – James, patrons will receive a Cheryl’s cookie and can sign a pink ribbon in honor or memory of a loved one or friend touched by breast cancer. The store will sell pink foods and decorations.
NFL NETWORK DOCUMENTARY FEATURING THE SPIELMAN FUND
On Oct. 31 at 8 p.m., the NFL Network will feature former Ohio State and NFL star Chris Spielman and the Spielman Fund in its Emmy-nominated documentary series, A Football Life. The Big Ten Network also plans to air the documentary this fall.
PANERA BREAD
-Go Pink With Panera Bread – On Tuesday, Oct. 2, 100 percent of all Pink Ribbon Bagel sales will benefit the Spielman Fund. James oncologists and Chris Spielman will hand out pink ribbon bagels at Panera's Lane Avenue store on the morning of Oct. 2.

Step Up for Stefanie – This 5K run and two-mile walk/run will be held on Sunday, Oct. 28, at Ohio Stadium. Participants will enjoy entertainment, food and fun for the whole family after the run/walk. Visit

SPIELMAN GRIDIRON CLASSIC
In September and October, high schools throughout Ohio are raising funds and awareness for The James and the Spielman Fund in a series of 30 football games. The games showcase the teams and create community awareness for both the Spielman Fund and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Chris Spielman will visit the school that raises the most money to host an inspirational school assembly. The James is participating by helping the schools turn their stadiums pink with pink glow sticks and banners.
SUNNY 95 "PINK WITH A PURPOSE"
Sunny 95 radio and The James are encouraging central Ohio women to attend one of 13 one-hour appearances at shopping centers around Columbus, including Macy’s at Easton, to schedule their mammogram on-site. As a thank-you for scheduling, patients will receive a $25 Macy’s gift card at the time of their mammogram. Macy’s is donating 200 gift cards for this promotion. Also at these appearances, people will be encouraged to sign a pink tag in honor or memory of a loved one or friend touched by breast cancer. The tags will be placed on the “Pink Tree of Hope” to be displayed at Sunny 95’s “Girls Night Out” in November at Macy’s at Easton.
