Raise $300K for Local Research Annually
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 2014 James 5K
race series kicks off Saturday, June 7, 2014, in Bexley, Ohio, with the Move
MMORE 5K to benefit multiple myeloma cancer research at The Ohio State
University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and
Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James).
The James 5K race series includes
five run/walk events benefiting breast, leukemia, lung, multiple myeloma and
sarcoma cancer research at The OSUCCC - James. Combined, these five community
organized events generate nearly $300,000 annually for local research programs
and clinical trials. More than 3,200 runners are expected to participate in the

Since its inception in 2008, the
Move MMORE race has raised more than $285,000 for multiple myeloma research at
The OSUCCC – James. The event is hosted by the MMORE (Multiple Myeloma
Opportunities for Research and Education), a nonprofit organization created by
a Columbus-area family after their young daughter was diagnosed and successfully
treated for this form of blood cancer. Event participants receive a dry-fit
shirt for participation.

Now in its ninth year, participants travel through the downtown brick streets
of Bexley for this race that begins and ends at Bexley High School. Proceeds
benefit lung cancer research at The OSUCCC – James and other local nonprofit
organizations. This event includes a kid’s dash event along with live music,
food and prizes.

former James patient Corey Lunger and generates funding for acute lymphoblastic

This race travels over the
Bergstresser/Dietz Bridge, the only remaining covered bridge in Franklin
County. The race was created in 2012 by two young breast cancer survivors from
Canal Winchester, Ohio, in order to raise funds for breast cancer research at
The OSUCCC – James through the Spielman Fund.
