Postgraduate Fellowship in Oncology for Advanced Practice NursesThe postgraduate fellowship in oncology for advanced practice nurses is a new program at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James). The program enables advanced practice nurses to gain first hand clinical experience and knowledge specific to oncology. As the only cancer program in the country that features a National Cancer Institute - designated Comprehensive Cancer Center aligned with a nationally ranked academic medical center and a free standing cancer hospital on the campus of a large public university, the OSUCCC – James provides an exciting professional learning environment that fosters excellence in patient care, education and research. Our Relationship-Based Care Model in combination with Evidence-based clinical care is the foundation of our fellowship program. The year-long fellowship includes both clinical and didactic focused study that covers the continuum of cancer care, from prevention and early detection through active treatment and on to survivorship and/or end-of-life care. During the fellowship program, participants will develop core oncology knowledge that will enable them to practice independently in any oncology setting while also having the opportunity to pursue a disease specific area of focus.
Eligibility Criteria
The program is open to:
Recent graduates meeting requirements for entry into the program or
Experienced nurse practitioners Interested in oncology but with no clinical oncology background
Oncology Fellowship applicants must meet the following criteria by the start of the program in August:
Have completed a master’s program in nursing from an accredited university
Be recognized as a nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist by the Ohio Board of Nursing
Have at minimum a Certificate to Prescribe Externship (CTP-E).
